Make PDFs searchable with OCR

The paperless office has many stumbling blocks. For example, scanned documents usually contain nothing more than a large image of the original document. However, this is extremely unsuitable for archiving purposes, because images are not easily searchable.

In addition, text in images is not easy to edit – unless you are familiar with a graphics program (e.g. Photoshop).

With PdfEditor you can make such PDFs searchable using the built-in OCR. Simply right-click on the image and select ‘Text recognition with OCR’.

OCR Settings

Right-click an image in your PDF and select “Text recognition with OCR”.

Then select the desired OCR software (we recommend to keep the default value).

Enter the language in which your PDF is written.

Finally, specify how the recognized text is to be inserted into the document. For archiving, we recommend ‘Invisible (searchable)’. The text will then be inserted into the PDF in a clear/colourless way, but you will ‘see’ the original document.

Try PdfEditor for free!

The trial version contains all the functions of the PdfEditor full version, however, it inserts a watermark in all edited PDFs (a backup of the original file is, of course, created). Needless to say, this limitation is not present in the full version.
